ABOUT THE ARTIST
Jerry Perman started singing and playing guitar while in high school. After first being influenced by the folk music and folk blues of the '60s, he incorporated '50s Rock & Roll into his repertoire, and then found himself going backwards in time where he discovered that he also had country and rockabilly blood flowing through his veins. He added a PRS electric guitar to keep his Lowden acoustic from feeling lonely. Major influences have included Chuck Berry, Elvis, Dylan Robert Johnson, Hank Williams, Sr., Commander Cody and the Lost Planet Airmen, Eric Clapton, Johnny Winter, the Beatles, and Florence Weistock Perman - who was one heck of a keyboard player! Jerry covers these and other artists and genres.
TESTIMONIALS
From attendees at the Washington Psychiatric Society's Annual Awards Dinner...
"Dr. Perman and band members - your contributions to the WPS event were indescribably fantastic. As I walked around the room, people were singing, bodies moving - just plain joyous. I add my sincerest appreciation to those already mentioned, to each of you for your participation in making the 60th Anniversary a tremendous success. The music truly made the evening memorable."
From a private party...
"You received rave reviews from everyone about your music and singing. One of many, many compliments was for your singing of 'Heartbreak Hotel' (? I think) in French! Our guests loved your performance. You both added so much to the great success of the evening, thanks so very much. I know you will be hearing from a number of our guests requesting the Sweet Root Band to play for their parties in the future. For others, please place us on your reference list, we would be delighted to tell others about the talents of the Sweet Root Band. You both were a great asset to our 12th Night Party."
BOOKINGS
Jerry enjoys playing as a solo act at private parties, bars, and corporate events, but he can also round up other geriatric reprobates to join him for a bigger sound. He has a couple of PA systems depending on the acoustic needs of the venue. You can reach Jerry at gpperman@gmail.com.
